General Information

Friend of Kairos

God is at work inside the darkness of the prison! And now, He is assembling a team of servants for the next Kairos at the Medium Security Craggy Correctional Center in Asheville. Prayerfully consider joining this endeavor for Christ.

Team Meetings

A mandatory Team Formation period is required in preparation for each Karios Weekend. Its primary purpose is to unify the Team in the Spirit of Christ. This Team Formation period is highly structured with a well defined agenda. The Team learns about the prison environment and current rules of the prison. Specific tasks pertaining to the program are defined, explained, and assigned during the Team Formation. KAIROS is a continuing ministry. Team service also includes the participation in KAIROS's continuing ministry - such as monthly meetings at the prison.

If accepted to serve on this Team, I agree to attend the Team Formation meetings, to participate in the continuing ministry of Kairos, to abide by the rules and policies of Kairos and the prison, and to support in good faith the activities and spirit of Kairos.

There are 4 Team meetings! They are scheduled as follows:

  1. Saturday, February 22, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Church of the Resurrection
  2. Saturday, March 28, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Central UMC, Asheville, NC
  3. Saturday, April 18, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Hope UMC, Flat Rock, NC
  4. Thursday, April 30, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Weaverville UMC, Weaverville, NC

Team members who go inside the prison for the Kairos are expected to come back one evening each month for a year. This is a time of discipling, mentoring and friendship. On a Friday following the Kairos, the Team returns to instruct the residents in the Prayer & Share (Reunion) group. Over and over, we hear “I never would have believed that you would come back!” If possible, please commit to this 1st reunion visit.
