Kairos Inside

Kairos Inside prison ministry - Additional Information

The  purpose of the Kairos Inside prison ministry program is to establish  the Kairos Christian community inside prisons by the transforming love  and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

The Weekend

The  Kairos Inside program brings positive and negative resident leaders  together, in both male and female institutions, for a 3½ day Weekend.   The program includes a series of talks, discussions, chapel  meditations, and music led by a same gender team of volunteers. As  Participants participate in the activities surrounded by the love and  support of the volunteers, a Christian community will start to form.  "Listen - Listen - Love - Love" is the theme of every weekend. For many  Participants, the Kairos Weekend creates the desire to become a  Christian, and for others it stimulates desire to continue his/her  spiritual growth.

Prayer and Share

After  the Kairos Weekend, Prayer and Share accountability groups are held  weekly, and Reunions monthly. The ultimate goal of Kairos Inside is to  build a Christian community to pray and fellowship together on a weekly  basis by nurturing each other in their faith walk and providing  accountability. This is the heart of Kairos! As the Kairos Christian  community inside a prison grows and begins to gain influence —  especially among the formerly negative leaders — the incidence of  violence decreases. Incarcerated participants who are released re-enter  the outside world with a God centered perspective and a new desire to  become productive citizens. Kairos Inside is a front row seat to God’s  miracles happening right now at men’s and women’s prisons.

How Can You Participate

Join or Support a Team:
You can  become a Kairos Inside volunteer and participate in the Weekends in the  prisons or correctional facilities. Not all volunteer opportunities to  serve involve going into a prison.

Pray for Us
Without prayer, a Weekend cannot happen. We have people like you praying every minute of the weekend — even all night!

Bake Cookies or Meals
We need dozens of cookies for a typical Kairos Weekend.

Involve Children and Youth
Have children or youth groups draw placemats or wall posters. These drawings often mean the most to those inside prison walls.

Create Agape Posters

Agape  can be encouraging letters, posters, placemats and banners addressed to  the entire Weekend community as a group. All Agape must be done in  prayerful love.

Make a Donation
All  Kairos Inside activities are funded by donations. You can make your  donation online or send a check to your local Kairos organization.
